Val.: «Tindre més por que un sereno»
Tindre més por que un sereno significa tindre molta por. Es diu això perquè el sereno era, antigament, el vigilant nocturn d’un poble, un funcionari encarregat de fer ronda de nit pels carrers en servici de vigilància, que també cantava les hores, deia quin temps feia o prestava auxili als veïns. Com a rondadors de la nit, els serenos estaven exposats al perill, per això es pressuposa que de tant en tant patien temor.
