Significa durar o viure molt de temps. També es diu «durar més que un cul de morter (en un bancal)».

    A mortar is a very important thing in Valencians' lives. It is the object and container into which the world-wide known Valencian sauce, all-i-oli is prepared. Being such an old tradition in our country, one infers that the bottom of a mortar must be ancient indeed...
